Know vs suffer

Hello everyone!

First of all, I wanted to say felicidades to Kerry and Kyle again. They are getting married Friday, I think! Congrats! I hope that all goes well!

And now a little about my new area.

Licey is like a highway town. It is just spread out all over the place, with a bunch of shops along the highway. It is the most country area that I have had so far. We walk a lot. I am going to use my pedometer here some day to see how it compares.

It is really humid right now.

But, other than that, I just wanted to share something that I learned in my studies the other day! When I shared Alma 7:11-13 with someone the other day I finally figure something out that I think is very important. In verse 13 it says "Now the Spirit knoweth all things; nevertheless the Son of God suffereth according to the flesh"

Now, I had always wondered why Alma felt he needed to say that the spirit knows everything here, especially since he wasn't talking about the nature of the Spirit, but that of Jesus Christ. But I think that I finally understood. He mentions it to explain something very important. There is a grand difference between KNOW and SUFFER or experience. Even though the spirit KNOWS how we feel in our illnesses and afflictions, it isn't enough. Jesus Christ had to actually pass though it all, experience it. SUFFER it.

This has a lot of applications, but my time has run out.

Love you all!

  1. Thanks for sharing that insight. Many applications indeed.

Sorry about the humidity. Sorta comes with the territory, but I know that doesn't make it any more tolerable.
